The 2022 edition of JUST US has been distributed to 40 000 people in prisons in 6 jurisdictions.
With the upcoming Federal Election, this issue aims to provide prisoners with insight into the values held by various political parties. We hope that this serves as useful guidance in deciding on which party to support and to determine whether their values are aligned with the goals and ambitions of the voter.
We also explore the theme of “Access to Law,” to increase awareness of the rights which are afforded to all citizens. In doing so we seek to provide prisoners with methods to access legal information and to provide insight into legal services.
In just over a week, we have received positive feedback from various entities including law firms and from major political parties. We have initiated negotiations to ensure that prisoners within South Australia and the Northern Territory gain access to our latest edition. We similarly hope to ensure that our magazine will be distributed amongst local health districts and psychiatric hospitals.
