Red Cross aspires for an inclusive society where all people are valued, their differences are valued and respected and their basic needs are met so that they can live with dignity. We recognise that within Australia there are people who are excluded from the social, economic, political and cultural systems which contribute to the integration of a person into the community. We are committed to overcoming social exclusion and will undertake programs, initiatives and advocate for those people who are on the margins of Australian society. In overcoming social exclusion Red Cross acknowledges we must focus and tailor the initiatives and programs we undertake if we are to make a meaningful difference to the lives of people who are excluded. As an initial focus, and informed by both the evidence and our service renewal process, Red Cross will concentrate its social inclusion initiatives and programs on the following people and issues:

The ACT Community Coalition on Corrections is a coalition of organisations and individuals that have an interest in corrections and particularly in the new ACT prison (the Alexander Maconochie Centre (AMC)), its operation and its performance. The Coalition meets on a regular basis to discuss issues about the new prison and to formulate proposals to the ACT Government that will improve the functioning of the centre, which will assist in the new prison meeting the goals and objectives and which will contribute to positive outcomes for prisoners.
